The 2013 edition of the Blackheart Knockout football Competition will see a new champion crown on Saturday.

That’s when surprise team Babonneau and Gros Islet will contest the final for the $15,000.00 cash prize on offer.

Both teams booked their spots in the finals of the competition after contrasting semi final victories Saturday evening at the Beausejour Cricket Ground.

Babonneau advanced to the final with a 2-0 win over Roseau Valley. Goals from Conscious Willie in the 21st minute and Nelson Nelson in the 27th minute saw their team through to the finals. Babonneau’s Conscious Willie was named Bizz Up player of the match.

In the second semi final Gros Islet advanced following a 1-0 win over former champions Mabouya Valley. The winning goal was converted in the 59th minute from second half substitute Troy Greenidge with his first touch of the game.

The finals will be played Saturday September from 7.00 p.m. at the Beausejour Cricket Ground. Preceding the final at 5:00pm is the 3rd place playoff to be contested by the losing semi finalist Mabouya valley and Roseau Valley.
