Parliamentary representatives for the communities of both Gros Islet and Babonneau have taken a keen interest in the outcome of the Blackheart Knockheart Football Tournament which is carded for Saturday evening at the Beausejour Cricket Ground.
The two female parliamentarians spoke at a specially arranged Press conference which was held at the players’ lounge of the Beausejour Cricket Ground last evening.
Last night’s press conference was also attended by representatives of the teams in the final and 3rd place playoff, representatives of the Blackheart Organisation and the district reps.
The M.P. for Babonneau the Honourable Alvina Reynolds says she was particular impressed with how the lads from her constituency has so far and credited the team’s success in part to the efforts of theor Coach Solomon Alexander.
Both Reynolds and Gros Islet M.P Emma Hippolyte won their seat by narrow margins in the last general elections and by all indications the Blackheart contest is also expected to be a close fight.
The Gros Islet M.P highlighted the fact the finalists are both from the north and encourages the teams to give out their best on Saturday. She also happy expressed satisfaction with the organization of the tournament.
The third place play off kick offs at 5.00 p.m between Mabouya Valley and Roseau Valley while from 7.00 p.m. in the grand finals Gros Islet battles Babonneau.
