Stage fright accounted for Babonneau’s dismal showing in the final of the Blackheart Knockout football tournament.

That’s according to their coach Solomon Alexander who spoke following his side's 0-3 defeat by champions Gros-Islet on Saturday night.

Babonneau enjoyed a fairy tale run, coming from the play offs and making it to the final. Their fans were disappointed that the team did not live up to its billing.

Alexander said his players usually played to empty stands and simply choked on the night. He noted that his young charges will learn from this experience for future tournaments.

Meanwhile, all the teams which participated in the tournament are reminded that the cheque presentation and prize giving ceremony takes place Wednesday evening from 7 .00 p.m. at the players’ lounge of the players pavilion at the Beausejour Cricket Grounds.
