President’s of the Windward Islands Football Association (WIFA) met at the Rex Resorts, St. Lucia on Saturday, January 31st, 2015 and
discussed among other things the establishment of a WIFA Under 14 boys and girls competition starting this year.
The meeting decided that serious efforts must be made to develop football St. Vincent and the Grenadines has been chosen as the host of the Inaugural girls under fourteen (U14) tournament which will take place in St.Lucia Football Association President, Lyndon Cooper, who paid host to his Windards Counterpart, “believes the time has come when more emphasis must be place on football at the lower level in the sub- region”.
“We have seen what the results can be when you put resources into Grassroots football and hence I am very happy that my colleagues
have given this priority” said Cooper.
St. Lucia has qualified for the CONCACAF under seventeen (U17) boys finals being staged in Honduras and Cooper believes that St. Lucia success is as a result of the earlier investments.
