Australia, England, South Africa and West Indies progress to ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Semi-Finals
The four semi-finalists for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 have now been confirmed with a day remaining in the group stage matches, which are being played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Squads that have progressed from the group stage which started on 23 March include defending champion Australia, former winner England, South Africa and the West Indies.

UK School Tour Match

The Hoe Bridge School from the UK continues its cricket tour of St Lucia with a 30 over a side game against the Northern Cluster Grass Roots Cricket Team ages 13 years and under at the Monchy Playing Field on Monday.

The Hoe Bridge School batting first were dismissed for 100 in 18.2 overs with Harris Hanif top scoring with 30.

10th International Seniors Cricket Festival Ends!
The fourth and final round of matches in the 10th International Seniors Cricket Festival ended here yesterday with victories by Saint Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago Seniors, and Warwickshire.

At the Gros Islet Playing Field where rain had reduced the match to 20-overs-per-side, Saint Lucia blasted Trinidad & Tobago Masters’ attack to a daunting total that proved well beyond their grasp.
Leading the charge was, Man-of-the-Match, Hermangild Francis, who thumped a belligerent 58, while free-flowing batting from Sheldon Thorpe (42), Deldridge Flavius (29), and David Percival (17) helped the home team reach 191 for the loss of five wickets.

St. Lucia Wins International Goodwill Triangular Tournament

Host Country ST. Lucia emerged champions of the ST. Lucia International Triangular Goodwill Tournament which was completed her last evening at the Vigie Multipurpose Sports Complex.

The ST. Lucians finished with three gold medals, two silver medals and four bronze medals for 17 pts, Guyana were second with 8 pts collecting two gold medals and one silver with Martinique in third with two silvers and two bronze medals.

SLASA Names 2014 CARIFTA Swim Team
The St Lucia Amateur Swimming Association has named a ten member squad to participate at the 2014 CARIFTA Swimming Championships to be held Olympic pool “Roly Bisslik” in Savaneta, Aruba from 22 to 26th April 2014

The 9 pool swimmers and 1 open water swimmer are

Hoe Bridge School Match Report No.1
Hoe Bridge School out of the United Kingdom began their 15-day Cricket Tour of Saint Lucia on a losing note, going down to John Eugene’s Academy by a massive 143 runs at the Gros Islet Playing Field yesterday.

Batting first, John Eugene’s Academy piled up 207 for the loss of five wickets from their 30 overs. Opener, Brant Jean made a boisterous 77, while captain Simeon Gaston weighed in with a controlled knock of 30. The two produced a second-wicket partnership of 94. Extras (mainly ‘wides’) contributed a very healthy 80 runs.

Swim Clinic Looms
The St Lucia Amateur Swimming Association and its members are in high gear preparation for an important FINA sponsored Officials Clinic that will be hosted in Saint Lucia on the week-end of 5th and 6th April 2014. 
 
There will be two FINA lecturers traveling to Saint Lucia to conduct this school:

Carol Zaleski , Chairman of the FINA Technical Swimming Committee (TSC) and
Søren Korbo, FINA TSC Honorary Secretary

Boxing Association Hosts St. Lucia International Goodwill Tournament

Plans are progressing smoothly as the St. Lucia Amateur Boxing Association gears up to host the St. Lucia International Goodwill Boxing Tournament here from Friday March 28th 2014 to Sunday March 30th 2014 at the Vigie Multipurpose Sports Complex.

The Boxing Association had originally wanted to host the event at an indoor venue and had entered into an initial agreement with the Gros Islet Secondary School to stage the event there at it’s indoor auditorium.

National Under 15 Male Cricket Team Preparation Underway

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports continues preparation of National Under 15 male cricket team in readiness for the Windward Islands Tournament which will take place in St Lucia from April 13th to the 20th with two trial matches over the weekend at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

On Saturday the teams were led by Johnnel Eugene and Dane Edward. Johnnel Eugene's team batting first reached an impressive 233 for 6 in their allotted 42 overs with half centuries coming from Kimani Melius who top scored with 73 and from Dezral Long who made 65. Skipper Johnnel Eugene also chipped in with 33.  Leg spinner Dmitirus Lamontagne was the leading wicket taker for Dane Edward's team finishing with 4 for 39 in 9 overs. Dane Edward and Kimani Sexius also picked up 1 wicket each.

Martinique Gommier Yacht Race a Success!

The Martinique Gommier Yacht race which took place on Friday 14th March saw 6 yachts leaving Martinique and arriving at the Gros Islet Water Front at 3.00 p.m.  Upon the arrival a welcome ceremony which was organized by the Gros Islet Constituency Council and the St. Lucia Tourist Board was held at the Gros Islet Water Front with welcome speeches from the District Representative Miss Emma Hippolyte, the Mayor Mr. Clarence Rambally and the St. Lucia Martinique Association.

A Cocktail and Prize Ceremony was held on Saturday 15th March at the Gros Islet Constituency Building and Trophies were presented to the winners:
1st place – Pamo Souef
2nd Place – The Come Back

Saint Lucia Hosts 10th International Seniors Cricket Festival
The tenth International Seniors Cricket Festival, organized by Gullivers Sports Travel out of the United Kingdom in collaboration with the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, will be hosted in Saint Lucia from March 24 to April 1, 2014.

The Festival, which was successfully held here in 2008, is for players 50 years and over, but three players whose ages range from 45 to 49 can be accommodated in each team, but only two can play at the same time.

Lazarus Funeral Home Knockout Football Competition
The LAZARUS FUNERAL HOME KNOCKOUT FOOTBALL COMPETITION continued on Saturday March 15, 2014 with a double-header at the Dennery Playing Field before a huge crowd.
 
From 2: 00 pm On the Rock Strikers came up against Chesters in a keenly contested match. On The Rock Strikers took the lead after 20 minutes with a goal from Kenvie Polius. Chesters fought back and was eventually rewarded with a goal by Mazio Daniel in the 37th minute to level the score.  With the scored locked at 1:1 in regulation time the winner was decided in a dramatic penalty shootout which was won by On The Rock Strikers by 4: 2 to advance to the next round.

 Dr. Kenny Anthony Cup Results

The Dr. Kenny Anthony Cup concluded on Sunday March 16th as it was played infront of one of thr biggest crowds ever to witness a football final in Vieux-Fort in recent times.

At the end of the day it was UPTOWN and PLATINUM who enjoyed victories while KNIGHTS and STABLE BOYS were left to dry their tears.

The SLNCA Inter Club 50 over competition bowled off over the weekend with victories for Des Barras, Small Axe, Young Stars and La Feuille.

United Insurance U- 19 School Cricket Scores

Victories for SDA Academy, Choiseul Secondary, Micoud Secondary and Clendon Mason Memorial as the United Insurance U 19 School Cricket Tournament continues at venues around the island.

At the Gros Islet Playing Field, SDA Academy recorded a comprehensive 9 wicket victory over Entrepot Secondary.  Entrepot Secondary batting first were skidded out for 69 in the 17th over with Kevin Alphonse 13 the only batsman to reach double figures. For SDA Academy the wicket takers were, Joshua Mann who took 3 for 14 in 3.2 overs, Shem Thomas 3 for 17 in 5 overs, Chez Cepal 2 for 12 in 3 overs and Serge Clarke 2 for 28 in 5 overs.  Set a modest victory target of 70, SDA Academy led by Serge Clarke with 27 not out got to the target making 70 for the loss of 1 wicket in 8.3 overs. Elan La Force was Entrepot's wicket taker with 1 for 12 in 3 overs.

Finale for the Kenny Anthony Football Competition to take place this weekend!

The finals of the Vieux-Fort South, Dr.Kenny Anthony Competition is eventually here. Sunday 16th March is expected to be a day of football excitement at the La Ressource playing field as teams will battle for the third  place and championship prize.  

The excitement is set to commence from 1:30pm when Vieux-Fort's former champion UPTOWN will take on  KNIGHTS in the third place play-off

42 Medal Haul for St. Lucian Swimmers
The four local clubs were Sharks Swim Club, Sea Jays Swim Club, Racers Swim Club,and Southern Flying Fish.

The S.t Lucian swimmers from all teams were in high spirits for the well organized and well attended meet with our swimmers now in preparation CARIFTA games for which St Lucia has now 10 Qualifiers.

United Insurance U- 19 School Cricket Scores

Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary continues its winning ways in the United Insurance Under 19 School Cricket Tournament having completed a comfortable 56 run victory over Soufriere Comprehensive on Monday at the Piaye Playing Field.

Vieux Fort Comprehensive batting first were dismissed for 172 in 25 overs with Zachary Edmund top scoring with 70, Dornan Edward making 24 and Valange St Ange 16.   Bowling for Soufriere Comprehensive, Trevor Edward 3 for 19 in 2 overs and Natiuis Baptiste 2 for 17 in 7 overs.

Olympic Committee Finalizes Baton Route for the Saint Lucia Leg of the Queen's Baton Relay
The Saint Lucia leg of the Queen's Baton relay is fast approaching and the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee has finalized the route for the Baton which is expected to arrive at the George F.L Charles Airport from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines  on the afternoon of Sunday March 16  at approximately 3:45pm.

President of the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC) Fortuna Belrose will present the Baton to an athlete.  Other local athletes, together with Police escort  will leave the airport for Government House via Mandela Drive, John Compton Highway and La Toc Road. At Government House the Baton will be presented to Her Excellency, the Governor General Dame Pearlette Louisy.

Valley Soccer Club emerges Winner of the CFC Soccerama

The Sab Sporting Facility, Vigie – March 09, 2014: In an abbreviated version of the game Valley Soccer Club emerged winners of the Castries Football Council’s soccerama held at the Sab Sporting Facility on Sunday March 09, 2014.

On a day that started off very gloomy but brighten up in time for the start of the first game Valley Soccer Club edged out NYAH 1 goal to Nil after regulation. FC Pioneers then upset Lancer FC 2 goals to Nil.
