Results of Cricket Matches played in Choiseul over the Weekend
In the Joe-Joe Twenty/20 second  semi-finals Cafriere defeated Morn Sion by 26 runs in a low scoring game.  Winning the toss and bating in dam conditions, Cafriere struggled to 91 all out in 17.1 Overs.  Kurston Jules was the key to the innings scoring a patient 32.  For Morn Sion Elija Leon took 3 for 19 off his 4 overs.  In reply Morn Sion faltered under the strong blowing of Cafriere and were bowled out for 65 in 12 overs.  Lucas Mitchel 4 for 16 and Johann Williams 2 for 18 did the damage for Cafriere.

Cafriere will meet Balca in the Twenty/20 Finals slated for Sunday 8th December.

St. Lucia National Cricket Association Picks Senior Male Team for the Win Lot 20/20 and Windwards Goodwill tournaments

The St Lucia National Cricket Association continues with the preparation of its senior male team for the Win Lot 20/20 and Windwards Goodwill tournaments taking place in Grenada from December 5th to the 16th with a  2 day practice game overs the weekend at the Beausejour Cricket Ground.

The teams were again led by Garey Mathurin and Craig Emmanuel.    Craig Emmanuel's team batting first were dismissed for 345 in 69 overs with Taryck Gabriel stroking a fluent century before he was asked to retire. His knock of 112 not out  included six fours and eight sixes. Vidal Crandon was also among the runs  making 91 which included seven fours and eight sixes. Audy Alexander also chipped in with 29.  The wicket takers for Garey Mathurin's team were, Mathurin himself taking 2 for 65, Walter Emmanuel 2 for 66, Vince Smith 2 for 89 and one wicket each for Merlan Sammy and Mervin Wells.

Opener Chris Gayle Ruled Out of WI Tour due to Injury
Opener Chris Gayle has been ruled out of the remainder of the West Indies’ tour of India and the subsequent three Tests against New Zealand due to a hamstring injury.

West Indies team physiotherapist C.J. Clark confirmed that Gayle tore his hamstring during the first One-day International on Thursday at the Nehru Stadium in the Indian south-western city of Kochi.

SLNCA Senior Team Preparation Matches Scores

The St Lucia National Cricket Association continues with the preparation of its male senior cricket team in readiness for up coming Windwards tournament scheduled for Grenada in 3 weeks time with two practice matches at the Beausejour Cricket Ground over the weekend.  

On Friday Garey Mathurin's team came up against Craig Emmanuel's team in a limited over match. Batting first Emmanuel's team reached 130 for 8 in 30 overs with useful scores coming from Junior Henry who made 39 and Craig Emmanuel 34.

Results from Week 3 in Commercial League Basketball Competition
Friday November 15th, 2013
There were victories for both the Royal St. Lucia Police Force and St. Lucia Fire Service on Friday over Insurance All Stars and Renwick & Company respectively.  In game 1 on Friday, the Police Force led by Calious Dantes with 14pts and 9steals, got their second victory in as many games with a huge 58 – 26 double digit win.  Karlinus Augustin also chipped in with 11pts and 8rebs for the Police.

Results of the St. Lucia F.A. Super League Football Tournament

Saturday 9th November: Dennery defeated Anse La Raye 3 – 0 at the Mindoo Phillip Park. Half time score was 1 – 0. Dennery goals were scored by Delan Mathurin 34th minute, Aloysious Frederick 48th minute and Wannel Felix in the 78th minute.

In the other encounter Soufriere defeated Mabouya 4 – 2 on penalties following a drab 0 – 0 draw.

Grenada Triumph in OECS Swimming

The Grenada National Swim Team swam all over the competition to capture the 23rd annual OECS Swimming Championships hosted by St Lucia over the weekend 8th to 10th November 2013 at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Center.

 

Described as one of the best organized meets, the Grenadians overcame a spirited challenge from the St Lucians and Antiguans to hold onto the trophy for the eleventh time in the history of the Championships.

Saint Lucia to Stage 2013 Saint Lucia Triathlon
For the first time in its history, the island of Saint Lucia will stage the Saint Lucia Triathlon and event organiser, Human Race, is delighted to announce that International Olympic Committee (IOC) member and St Lucian, Richard Peterkin, will present awards to all the winners at the prize giving ceremony.

The Saint Lucia Triathlon is being organised by the London 2012 Olympic competition manager, John Lunt and his experienced team, who are delighted to have the support of Peterkin and the island with this first ever event. The aim is to support and grow triathlon in the Caribbean, especially in Saint Lucia. Following the event, Lunt will be donating all the equipment to the St Lucia Triathlon Association so they can organise their own events and encourage more Saint Lucians to take part in multisport.

OECS Swimming is On!

The much anticipated OECS Swimming Championships splashes off this Friday 8th November at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Center with the opening ceremony at 6:30 pm

With teams from Antigua, Grenada, St Vincent, British Virgin Islands and hosts St Lucia, the competition is expected to be hot with the traditional rivalry between St Lucia and Grenada and the fast improving newcomers Antigua. The younger age groups are expected to be dominated by the Antiguans and the full strength St Lucians and Grenadian teams standing the better chance to win the overall championships.

Lyndell Marcellin returns home from Russia
St. Lucian Welterweight Amateur Boxer Lyndell “the Russian” Marcellin is back home from a month long visit to Russia. Marcellin returned to the island Monday afternoon via the Hewanorra International airport after participating at the World Amateur Boxing championships in Almaty Kazakstan and in the preparatory camp for the champions held before also in Almaty.

Sailing season starts with J24 National Championships

This weekend the Saint Lucia National J24 Championships will take place in Rodney Bay, with a half dozen local J24 crews competing in advance of the Mango Bowl Regatta which is slated for November 29 to December 1.

Organised by the Saint Lucia Yacht Club, the fleet may be small, but the competition will be fierce as the island’s top keelboat sailors vie for the trophy in a total of eight races over Saturday and Sunday. The J24 is a twenty-four foot racing yacht, crewed by an average of 5 sailors, and this weekend’s fleet will include some of the island’s top sailors, youth and adult.

St. Lucia 2013 OECS Swim Team Represented

The 2013 St Lucia national swim Team to compete at the OECS Championships was presented to the public and media on Saturday 26th October at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Center.

Attended by swimmers, coaches, SLASA officials, sponsors, family and media personnel, the 34 swimmers were presented, had their photos taken and had a group training session under the guidance of head coach Brian Charles.

Lucelec St. Lucia Ltd. Under 19 Basketball
Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School out played Entrepot Secondary to defeat them 57 – 10. At half time the score was 23 – 1. The main contributors for Vieux Fort were Sylron Louision 18 Points, 9 Rebounds, 11 Steals and 7 Assists; Brent Mathurin 16 Points 13 Steals 5 Assists and Armani Raveneau 11 Points.  Terry John scored 7 Points for Entrepot.

2013 ECFH LUCELEC Youth Football League

The Sab Sporting Facility, Vigie – October 26, 2013: Sixteen goals were scored in 3 games, including a hat trick by the tournament leading scorer Avian Girard, as the round robin phase of the 2013 ECFH~LUCELEC Youth Football League winds down.

In an abbreviated game schedule to facilitate Jounen Kweyol activities in the Under 13 division on Saturday October 26, 2013 VSADC made light work of Lancers behind contributions from Simeon Francis, Akil Gabriel, Naveed Joseph, Vionce Weekes, Eziah Modeste and Keegan Caul. Yensen August was the only contributor for Lancers.

Under 15 division leading scorer Avian Girard scores 6 goals to keep Valley Soccer at the Top of the Points

The Sab Sporting Facility, Vigie – October 20, 2013: Twenty seven goals were scored in seven games over the weekend in the 2013 ECFH~LUCELEC Youth Football League.

On Saturday October 19, 2013 in the Under 13 division Lancers FC routed Roseau 8 goals to 1, behind a hat trick from Kevin Charles. Other contributors for Lancers FC were Daneo Caroo with a brace, and goals from Shaquille Emmanuel, Dante Fitz and Deshaun Paul, while Kenzly Edmund scored for Roseau.

Swimmers vie for OECS Swim Team Selection

All of St Lucia’s locally based competitive swimmers jump into the pool this weekend 18th to 20th October 2013 at the Capri Sun National Short Course Championship as they attempt to make the national Swim Team for the OECS Swimming Championships in November.

Competing in all age groups from 8 and under to the over 18 years, the swimmers will be competing against the arch rivals Grenada and fast improving newcomers Antigua.

School Sports Results

Castries Comprehensive won the Under 15 Cricket Tournament when they defeated Choiseul Secondary School by 50 runs at the Beausejour Cricket Ground on Wednesday 16th October 2003

Choiseul Secondary won the toss and invited Castries Comprehensive to bat. In their allotted 40 overs they amassed 143 runs for 9 wickets with Windward Islands player Nick Elibox top scoring with 27 runs. There were other useful contributions from J. Le Compte 23 runs and D. Auguste 17 runs.

2014 ECVA Youth Olympic Beach Volleyball Qualifier

Pigeon Point, Gros-Islet -St. Lucia: The 2014 ECVA Youth Olympic Beach Volleyball Qualifier is set for St. Lucia from October 18-21, 2013. Teams from St. Vincent, Grenada, Dominica, Antigua, St. Kitts & Nevis and St. Lucia will compete to win a spot for the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympics set for Nanjing, China in 2014.

The team of Dala Noel/Lisa Casimie, Skye Mondesir/Nikita Greenidge will represent the youth girls and Sachin Avril/Jervelle Edward, Alexander Augier/Andre Marquis Jr. will represent the youth boys.

Nazmul, Mehedy secure 3-1 lead
Nazmul Hossain Shanto's 60 consolidated Bangladesh U-19's series lead, as they beat West Indies U-19 by four wickets in Georgetown to go 3-1 up. West Indies opted to bat, but were pegged back early as Rifat Pradhan dismissed both opening batsmen with the score on 16.
