The Saint Lucia Athletics Association Names Squad for CARIFTA 2015 in St Kitts-Nevis
The Saint Lucia Athletics Association has named an eight-member team to represent the nation at the CARIFTA Games in Basseterre, St Kitts-Nevis, over the Easter weekend, 2-6 April.

Left off the team are the Juvenile Female Athlete Of The Year for 2014, sprinter Julien Alfred, one of just three athletes to meet the Association's A standard. Julien is just 14 this year, as is Desray Desir, who also made a B standard in the 100m under-18 girls.

The Windwards Volcanoes and Barbado Pride End in a Stalemate

Barbados Pride and Windward Islands Volcanoes drew their ninth and penultimate round WICB PCL first-class four-day match at Kensington Oval today.

Chasing 232 to win in a minimum 31 overs, the Windwards ended on 101 for six off 45 overs.

Windward Islands Lotteries Steps Up to Sponsor Sub-Regional Cricket
Windward Islands Lotteries Inc., which operates lottery services in the Windward Islands, and the Windward Islands Board, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, to sponsor the 2015 under fifteen and under nineteen cricket competitions, the first of which will be the .WINLOTT Inc Windward Islands Under 15 tournament to be played in St. Lucia from April  1st - 8th 2015.

Massy United Insurance Schools Under 19 Cricket Tournament Continues
The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Massy United Insurance Under 19 Schools Cricket Tournament continued on Thursday with victories for Ciceron Secondary over CARE and Micoud Secondary over Anse Ger Secondary.

At the Gros Islet Playing Field, Ciceron Secondary crushed CARE by 10 wickets in a one - sided match. CARE batting first, was bowled out for 46 in 11.3 overs with Emerson Charles 10, the only batsman to reach double figures. Doing the damage with the ball for Ciceron Secondary were, Kywan John 5 for 19 in 5 overs, Gervawni Clement 2 for 15 in 5 overs and Denfar Edward 1 for 0 in 0.3 overs.
Set 47 for victory, Ciceron Secondary made light work of their task finishing on 47 without loss in only 6.1 overs, with openers Jonathan Samuel and Denfar Edward finishing on 24 and 6 respectively.

The St. Lucia Football Association Inter-Districts Under 15 and Royal Club Under 23 Competitions continues this weekend with the Quarter Finals Round.  

In the Inter-Districts Under 15 Competition all Quarter Finals will be held at the Soufriere Playing Field with 2 games on Saturday 14th March featuring Central Castries vs Vieux fort North at 4.00 p.m. and Gros Islet vs Soufriere at 6.00 p.m.

Saint Lucia end their CONCACAF Under-17 Campaign with a Loss to Caribbean Champions Haiti
Saint Lucia ended their CONCACAF Under-17 campaign winless, falling to Caribbean neighbours and regional champions Haiti 4-1 on Thursday night at the Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

In an encounter featuring previously eliminated sides, Saint Lucia took a 1-0 lead in the first minute only to see the Caribbean champion reply with four unanswered goals.

Scores from the Massy United Insurance Under 19 Schools Cricket Tournament

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Massy United Insurance Under 19 Schools Cricket Tournament continued on Tuesday with victories for SDA Academy over Entrepot Secondary, Corinth Secondary over Leon Hess Comprehensive and Clendon Mason Memorial over Grande Riviere Secondary.

At the Monchy Playing Field, SDA Academy completed a comfortable 6 wicket victory over Entrepot Secondary. Entrepot Secondary batting first, was dismissed for 87 in 11 overs, with Kyle Adonis 16. Bowling for SDA Academy, Chaz Cepal 4 for 10 in 3 overs, Dudley Charles 3 for 10 in 4 overs and Rumario Simmons 3 for 16 in 4 overs. Set 88 for victory, SDA led by Rumario Simmons with 42 not out easily got to their target finishing on 89 for 1 in 12 overs. For Entrepot Secondary, the wicket takers were Olarry Alfred, Elan La Force, Craig Elisee and Kyle Adonis with one wicket each.

Saint Lucia has a new National Junior Record for the Women's 200m
Saint Lucia has a new national junior record in the women’s 200m dash, but the holder is far from a woman herself. Aged just 14, Julien Alfred, a student at Leon Hess Comprehensive and a member of Survivors Track Club, broke Merica Monchery’s nine-year-old mark in the half-lap at this weekend’s National Junior Championships and CARIFTA Qualifiers. With some of Saint Lucia’s leading athletes lining up for a chance to head to next month’s CARIFTA Games in St Kitts and Nevis, Alfred was the most outstanding athlete of them all, winning the 100m and 200m in the under-18 division by some distance...

SFA Inter-Districts Under 15 and Royal Club Under 23
Competitions continued on the weekend in the different Districts on Sunday 8th March.  

In the Under 15 Competition 2 games were played in the Southern Zone at the Augier Playing Field with the 1st game featuring Soufriere vs Vieux Fort North.  At the end of the game Soufriere won over Vieux Forth 3-2.  The 2nd game featured Choiseul vs Laborie.  At the end of the game Choiseul won over Laborie 2-1.

Kieron Pollard set to return for Trinidad and Tobago against the Windward Islands this Weekend
West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard will return to the national cricket team for its clash against Windward Islands in the West Indies Cricket Board Professional Cricket League at the National Cricket Centre in Couva, which bowls off on Friday.

After suffering a leg injury in the Nagico Super50 tournament, which T&T won, Pollard has only been competing for his club team Queen’s Park Cricket Club.

The Kenneth Arthur Women’s Soft ball League stroked off over the last weekend with matches in the north and south of the island.

On Saturday there were wins for Des Barras over South Castries at BCG and Dennery defeated Mon Repos by 9 wickets in Dennery.

In Choiseul Caffiere (157/2) defeated Saltibus (70/7) and Tete Morne (121/4) defeated Delcer (83).

Brian Lara wants to be West Indies Cricket Board President

Legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara is ready to throw his hat in the ring and contest for the post of president of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

Lara, who is currently doing television commentary at the ICC World Cup in Australia/New Zealand, said he is becoming increasingly concerned at the deficiencies in the management of the sport here in the Caribbean, and he will have no hesitation in accepting a nomination and contesting for the WICB’s top post.

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Massy United Insurance Under 19 Schools Cricket Tournament continued on Monday with victories for Corinth Secondary over Ciceron Secondary and St Mary's College over Marigot Secondary.

At the Monchy Playing Field, Corinth Secondary registered a comfortable 62 run victory over Ciceron Secondary.  Corinth Secondary taking first knock was dismissed for 138 in 22.3 overs, with Lerry Auguste top scoring with 54, Lee Solomon making 14 and Sheldon Busby 11.  Bowling for Marigot Secondary, Kiwayne John 3 for 14 in 3 overs, Giovanni Clement 2 for 14 in 4 overs and Veron Preville 2 for 55 in 6 overs.
In reply, Ciceron Secondary was bowled out for 76 in 13.3 overs with Jonathan Samuel making 34.  For Corinth Secondary, the wickets were shared among spinners, Raphael Largan 5 for 14 in 4 overs and Lerry Auguste 5 for 29 in 6.3 overs.
