Construction Begins on 2 ICT Access Centres in Micoud
Wednesday, November 5, will mark the commencement of the construction of two Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Access Centres in the south of Saint Lucia.

One Access Centre will be constructed in the village of Micoud, while the town of Vieux-Fort has been selected as the other beneficiary.

St. Lucia Partipates in Regional Conference on Management of Ebola
A three man team from the Ministry of Health has recently returned from Cuba having participated in a conference that discussed a regional approach in the management of Ebola.

This conference brought together representatives from thirty three (33) countries from the Caribbean and Latin America including directors and specialists in various health services, Chief Medical Officers, Heads of Port Health Programmes, Directors of Health Promotion and Education and Disaster Coordinators from various countries.

Update on the 200 Missing Nigerian Girls
Despite recent reports of a ceasefire agreement from the Nigerian government, Boko Haram denies a deal was ever made and claims that all of the abducted schoolgirls have been married off and converted to Islam.

Just two weeks ago the families of the more than 200 missing girls, who were abducted in April from their secondary boarding school  northeast Nigeria, received news from Nigerian officials that a ceasefire agreement was in place with the Islamist terror group. They were also told arrangements were being made to free the girls soon.

United Workers Party (UWP) concludes its 38th Annual National Convention
The United Workers Party (UWP) concluded its 38th Annual National Convention on Sunday November 02nd, 2014 before hundreds of delegates from all seventeen constituencies and supporters from around the island. The event which was held at the Gros Islet Secondary School under the theme “STRONGER, UNITED AND READY TO SECURE THE FUTURE” has been dubbed a tremendous success.

The incumbent, Allen Chastanet, who was challenged by Dr. Claudius Preville, was retained as the political leader, securing a total of 266 to Dr. Preville’s 101.
