The suspected drowning deaths of four St Lucians has triggered an outpouring of sympathy from St Lucians including the St Lucia Life Saving Association which played a major part the rescue effort at the La Toc Beach.

According to the President of the organization Germaine Anthony, who has reiterated the need for people to be aware of the dangers related to the sea, particularly for young men who are more daring.

Mr Anthony says there is need for a review of the broader issue surrounding drowning.

Mr Anthony has dismissed suggestions that his organization is vocal only when a drowning occurs.

He notes that on the contrary it is the media that focuses on the organization at such times.

He highlighted the Life Saving association’s role in the rescue effort at La Toc Beach on Sunday.

Mr Anthony notes that while efforts are made to maintain visibility year round, support for the Association is low
