A consignment of kettles which were expected to be distributed on the local market have been recalled.

The decision was taken by the St Lucia Bureau of Standards following it customary quality checks on the electrical appliances.

According to the Head of the Compliance Department at the SLBS Hubert Reynolds the kettles posed a significant shock risk to consumers.

Mr Reynolds says the St Lucia Bureau of Standards was alerted of the situation through its monitoring system, currently being used to test sample products imported into St Lucia.

Mr Reynolds has advised that kettles which are currently on the market are safe for consumer use.
