The Deputy Commissioner of Police has issued a public appeal to members of the public who may have witnessed a number of rapes which have been reported in the recent past to come forward.

DCP Henry made the call earlier today when she disclosed that from the start of the year eight alleged cases have been reported in the north of the island, with two perpetrators being arrested and charged for the sexual offences.

She adds that investigations are actively ongoing into the remaining six reports. She stressed that individuals who witnessed the incidents can play a critical role in making a positive identification of the perpetrators

Ms Henry notes that the incident which occurred at Lastic Hill is actively being pursued.

Meanwhile the Deputy Police Commissioner has also provided an update on the drowning death of a four year old child in Vieux Fort on February 22nd.

She informed that on Monday, March 3, 2015, 33 year old, Canadian National   Sa-hab Jam-shi-di was formerly charged for the offence of Causing Death by Gross Negligence or Recklessness.

Jam-shi-di, a was arrested by Police in connection with the drowning death of 4 year old, Terrel Joshua Elibox of Augier Vieux Fort, which occurred on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Bois Shadon Beach, Beanfield Vieux Fort.

Jamshidi is scheduled to make a court appearance on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.
