St. Lucians are being warned of a worsening dry spell that has gripped the island and the strong possibility of water emergency alert which could be issued if the situation does not improve by Month end.

The caution comes from Water Resource Management agency official Fitzgerrald John, who has continued to provide updates on the drastically reduced raw water supply here, from the start of the year.

Mr John says the dry spell had become progressively worse and that the trend will continue into the month of May.

The dismal news comes ahead of the global observance of World Water Day on March 22nd.

The theme for this year is water and sustainable developments.
