The town of Soufriere is expected to come alive on Tuesday next week with a cultural explosion, that will mark the start of Creole Day celebrations here.

The fishing community has been selected as one of the host communities for the festivities this year.

According to the Radio projects Coordinator at the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation Germina Hippolyte, the packed program of activities have been planned to include every community in Soufriere in the run up to the main event on October 27th

Tuesday’s launch will take on the form of a talent exhibition at the town square which will include a number of performances and a craft showcase.

Ms Hippolyte has dispelled the perception that youth are disinterested in their creole heritage. She notes that it is evident in the passion of the committee members who she says are all young people. She says they are working to entice their peers to participate in the planned activities.

Creole Heritage Month is observed in St Lucia annually in October
