Nine people from one family have been left homeless after fire gutted two dwelling houses in Ciceron over the weekend.

As the Duputy fire chief reports, the 40 by 30 ft structure was completely engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived on the scene.

Mr Charles explains that officials were unable to contain the blaze which started in a smaller structure before it spread to a nearby building.

Meanwhile another fire in Dennery that destroyed a dwelling house last night has left the occupants counting losses of up to 35 thousand dollars.

Mr Charles says the increasing number of house fires is a cause for concern and has issued safety advice to members of the public.

Last week a house fire in Chase gardens claimed the lives of two children and their mother while they slept.
