Meanwhile, another proposed increase in the Budget announced by Dr Kenny Anthony has fuelled discussion among St Lucians.
The fuel surcharge on electricity will increase by 50 cents.

Speaking on the announcement Corporate Communications Manager at LUCELEC Roger Joseph noted that while the company is not responsible for regulating  the rate of taxes, the company anticipates that there will be reaction to the increase from its customers.

Mr Joseph does not expect that the increase will be significant to adversely affect customers who do not have a high electricity usage.

The fuel levy was increased last year from 20 cents to 50 cents.

Mr Joseph says regular consumers will not see realise drastic increases in their monthly bills.

The fuel surcharge rate on electricity has now been increased to one dollar per gallon of fuel purchased by Lucelec
