The Folk Research Centre and the Cultural Development Foundation are together organising a tribute concert to honour the late Sir Dunstan St. Omer who died on May 5th.

Sir Dunstan was St. Lucia’s most famous artist and designer of the St. Lucian flag. The FRC declared him a National Cultural Hero in 2007.

The Tribute Concert will be held on Monday May 18th at 7 pm at the National Cultural Centre where poets, musicians, dancers will pay their own artistic tribute to Sir Dunstan, popularly known as Apilo.

Cultutal activist at the FRC Robert Lee says a Visual artists showcase featuring local artisans will also be on display during the Concert.

In reacting to fears that there may be no replacement for iconic St Lucians who are dying out, Mr Lee says he does not buy into the notion.

The FRC and CDF has invite St. Lucians to attend the event publicly display the St. Lucian flag in honour of Sir Dunstan on Monday.
