A Tribute Concert for the late Sir Dunstan St. Omer held at the National Cultural Centre on Monday May 18th which was well attended by a broad cross section of the public has  been hailed a great success.  

The event was organized by the Folk Research Centre in collaboration with the Cultural Development Foundation.

Among those paying tribute to the late iconic artist were Writers: Derek Walcott, McDonald Dixon, Kendel Hippolyte, Vladimir Lucien, Ras Isley, George Goddard, as well as Travis Weekes and Moses Jn Baptiste, Minister of Agriculture brought greetings from the Government and read a poem;

Also honouring Sir Dunstan were Musicians:  Jab Duplessis and Clarence Joseph; Gene Lawrence; Lennie Stone;  the James Brothers, and  Afwéchi of the Piaye Cultural group; Les Danseurs Traditionelles also paid a tribute through the art of dance

Representatives from the education sector also recognized the accomplishments of Sir Dunstan. Tributes came from: Dr. Veronica Simon, Head of the Open Campus, UWI;  Mr. Urban Dolor, Principal of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College; Ms. Martha Foster representing the Minister of Education as well as  Msgr Patrick Anthony;

The event also included a display of the works of several local artists  as well as some pieces painted by Sir Dunstan

The official funeral for Sir Dunstan takes place on Wednesday May 20th at 2 pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
