A top official at Lynchburg college in Virginia is on island to collect documentation on an Indian heritage project.

Dr Sabita Manion says the exercise which is being conducted via interviews will document the origin of the Indian race in St Lucia.

She says her research has suggested that there is little or no recorded history of how east Indians arrived in St Lucia compared to what obtains in other Caribbean islands.

Dr Manion has invited individuals of Indian descent to register their earliest memories of Indian rituals and other historical facts about the race to be interviewed throughout this month.

The newly formed Indian Heritage Association of St Lucia is assisting with the exercise.
