Prime Minister, Hon.  Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, left the island on Saturday for the Republic of China (Taiwan). He leads a delegation to Taiwan for the Official Opening of the Embassy of Saint Lucia to the Republic of China (Taiwan).

The Embassy will be located in the International Trade Building in Taipei. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 12:00pm.

During the visit to Taiwan, the Prime Minister will meet H.E. Dr. Ma Ying-jeou, President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), H.E. Ambassador David Lin, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Taiwan and other senior officials of the Taiwanese Government.

The Prime Minister plans to meet Saint Lucian students at the I-Shou University and the Fu Jen Catholic University. He will also deliver a lecture to students of the Fu Jen Catholic University on the theme “The Future of Small States in the World System”.

Expenditure for this visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan) is being met by the Government of Taiwan.

The delegation left Saint Lucia on Saturday, May 30 and arrived in Taiwan on Monday, June 1. The delegation returns to Saint Lucia on Saturday, June 6th.
Hon Philip J. Pierre, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport will act as Prime Minister during Dr. Anthony’s absence.
