A fundraiser held on Saturday to assist the families who have been displaced following a fire in Micoud last week has been hailed a success.

It is one of several activities planned to assist with the rebuilding of four homes which were destroyed on June 1st after a fire which started in a wood workshop spread to nearby buildings.

The effort has been heavily assisted by the MP for Micoud North Dr Gale Rigiobert, who implored for public support for the fundraising barbeque that was held in the community.

A member on the organizing committee Merlicha Hippolyte says the event was heavily supported by members of the Micoud community who came forward with more than just monetary contributions.

Ms Hippolyte also expressed gratitude on behalf of the families for the level of support which so far been given toward the cause, and has encouraged St Lucians to continue the aid effort.

Meanwhile the Seventh Day Adventist community has also come forward to assist the affect families with donations of food and clothing items
