After almost six months of dry weather, St Lucia experienced moderate to heavy rains in some parts of the island as a result of a tropical wave.

That's according to the Director of Met Services Thomas Auguste who reports on the rainfall figures which were logged following Monday afternoon’s shower.

He notes that while the rains have resulted in some improvements to the dry weather, it is not enough to replenish the severely depleted raw water supply here.

Mr Thomas stressed that despite the dry weather conditions, there is a possibility for more cyclone activity to develop.

He has cautioned the public to remain on guard and take the necessary steps to safeguard against damage and losses during the hurricane season
