A Government incentive to Minibus Operators has been identified as the source of a growing rift among their counterparts in the Taxi Sector.

Suggestions are that concessions granted to minibus drivers are expected to offset a planned bus fare increase here that would have been passed on to local consumers.

Among the individuals expressing their views on the issue is the President of the National taxi Union Lucien Joseph, who has criticized sections of the sector for their failure to exercise a greater level of understanding and compromise.

He has dismissed the dissent as malicious.

Speaking on plans for the circulation of a petition among members of the taxi sector who believe that the industry is being ignored, Mr Joseph says there is no basis for such a claim.
