A taxi driver at the fore front of efforts to protest governments failure to address concerns affecting the sector is maintaining his position on the distribution of incentives to the island’s transport sector.

Mr Terry Valcyn believes that concessions granted to the minibus sector should have been spread across the board, as all players incur the same expenses and operating costs.

He points to rebates, and bus fare increases that have been granted to the minibus sector in recent times to strengthen his argument.

Mr Valcyn says operators in the sector are moving ahead with plans to express what he calls their genuine concern.

A meeting to discuss several matters affecting the taxi sector was called at the CSA Auditorium on Tuesday. They included the increase in license fees which Mr Valcyn says drivers are unable to afford

The local taxi sector is approximately 1200 members strong, however the petition has only received the support of 200 members so far
