The organizers of a signature event on the calendar of events for St Lucia Carnival over a decision taken by local authorities, that has forced them to cancel the H2O Wet Fete show scheduled for this weekend.

The news comes following what Mr Kurt Elibox says are several efforts to exhaust all options to source water for the event, which comes at the height of a dry spell and a water related emergency.

According to Elibox, a proposal to use water from a lake on private property as well as the option of importing water into the island from Domminica have been shot down by authorities at the Water and Sewerage Commission.

Asked whether he believed that local water agencies are seeking to avoid a perception of water wastage by shutting down his event, Mr Elibox says that’s a weak argument.

He points to the local hotel sector which has a high water consumption to support his argument.

Mr Elibox has however declined to comment on whether or not he will pursue legal action on the matter.
