A public servant who announced her entry into local politics has spoken for the first time since first stating her intention to contest the Gros Islet seat on a UWP ticket at the next General election.

Ms Jeana Corneille was featured as a guest on Tuesday’s Newsspin program where she explained that the main reason for her entry into politics was to give a voice to those who were not brave enough to speak against injustice.

Her motivation has been compared to that of Civil Rights activist Rosa Parks.

She has also addressed criticism levelled at her for flouting the staff orders that prohibit public servants to participate in active politics.

Ms Corneille intends to participate in a run off against former MP Lennard Spider Montoute that will determine the candidate who will contest the next General election
