A ruling against members of the Royal St Lucia Police Force following an inquest into the death of Chakadan Daniel has been described as concerning by the President of the Police Welfare Association.

Daniel was found hanging in his cell at the Micoud Police Station where he was being held on October 30th 2013

Two years later a court has ruled the death of the 22 year old as an unlawful killing.

Mr Cameron Laure says the Welfare Association has been in contact with the officers who were on duty at the Micoud station at the time and is willing to provide the necessary assistance to them.

Mr Laure has also reacted to the level of scrutiny that police officer are subjected to particularly in light of the IMPACS report.

He notes that it is a normal process and does not affect the manner in which law enforcement is executed.

The ruling in the Chakadan Daniel case was handed down on Friday last week
