The political leader of the United Workers Party has reacted to public suspicion surrounding his credentials.

The authenticity of the academic qualifications of Allen Chastanet has been questioned by sections of the public, prompting party operatives to dismiss the claim as politically motivated.

Mr Allen Chastanet who is currently off island has himself responded to the suggestions via a statement on social media.
He notes that in light of the new developments surrounding the issue of his credentials, and the fact that St. Lucia's name is being tarnished in the process by well-known political groups in this country, he has decided to make available for online scrutiny, a copy of his certificate from Bishop's University and American University in Washington.

The statement adds that it came to his attention on Wednesday that a letter from American University in Washington confirming that he had attended and obtained a Master of Arts Degree has been in circulation.

Mr Chastanet went on to note that it is heart breaking that persons would go to great lengths to commit fraud - a criminal act, just to discredit him.

According to Chastanet, St. Lucia's name will once again be in the international media if and when American University decides to pursue legal action.

A copy of Chastanet’s certificates of academic qualifications have been posted on his face book page
