Foul play is suspected in the death of an inmate who reportedly died in police custody on Wednesday.

Police reports revealed that 22 year old Shakadan Daniel was found hanging in his cell at the Micoud Police Station by officers. The discovery was made just moments before Daniel was scheduled for a court appearance.

But the lawyer representing the now deceased young man insists that Daniel did not commit suicide. Mr Alfred Alcide says the body of the deceased man bore marks of violence, which according to him, suggests that his client may have been assaulted prior to his death.

Mr Alcide has informed us that should the post mortem results confirm his suspicions he will be consulting with the family on the way forward in seeking justice. Mr Alcide also believes that during his time in custody, Daniel’s constitutional rights were also violated.
