The results of a post mortem conducted on the body of a mentally challenged man of Soufriere has been released.

Kervin Joseph was fatally shot by police on Tuesday last week following a scuffle with lawmen who were trying to apprehend him.

Despite eyewitness accounts of the incident suggesting that the police had shot the mentally ill man several times, an official police report which was released one day after the fatal shooting indicated that the deceased sustained one gunshot wound to the torso.

The autopsy which was conducted on the body of Kervin Joseph on Friday August 22nd revealed that he sustained two gunshot wounds; one to the right side of the abdomen and another to the left knee.

The report concludes that Joseph died as a result of hemorrhagic shock (excessive blood loss) secondary to gunshot wounds.

Investigations continue into this matter.
