Shop stewards at the Water and Sewerage Company and the Windward Islands Packaging Company have called on the attention of the island’s Labour Commissioner to intensify efforts to resolve an impasse between the National Workers Union and the management of Secure St Lucia...or else.

The two sides have been deadlocked on a settlement of over half a million dollars in outstanding overtime payments to security guards employed with the company.

In a letter from the NWU, which has been authorised to act on their behalf, the shop stewards have informed Mr Ray Narcisse that they will stand in solidarity with the security guards, should he fail to maintain industrial justice.

The payment issue continues to remain outstanding despite pressure from the workers and the union to resolve the matter.

Security guards at Secure St Lucia are currently operating on a work to rule basis.
