The Water and Sewerage Company has assisted with a broken pipe at a public laundry and bath facility in New Village days after several calls from residents.

This comes at the height of a drought period that has gripped the island since the start of the year as well as several advisories issued by WASCO to conserve water.

According to Public Relations and Communications Manager Dave Anthony Charles, while the upkeep of the facility is that of the Castries City Council, it was critical for the Water Company to step in to stop the water wastage.

Meanwhile, Mr Charles informs that while the island has experienced intermittent rains recently, it has not been enough to significantly improve the situation at the John Compton dam.

As a result WASCO continues its water rationing system throughout the island.
