Severe adverse weather conditions that continue to affect Dominica have resulted in the displacement of several residents due to flooding.

The system caused by the effects of tropical storm Erica has left most of the country without power and potable water, with officials predicting that the situation is not expected to improve for the rest of the day.

RCI news spoke to journalist Carlisle Jn Baptiste in Dominica earlier today. He informed that six people are reported missing.

Mr Jn Baptiste says while disaster officials in Dominica have not made an official assessment of the situation, reports of damage continue to be logged.

He says one of the major bridges on the island has been severely damaged and several other rivers have burst their banks.

Disaster officials have stated that it is proving increasingly difficult to evacuate some residents.
