St Lucia’s Prime Minister has sympathized with the government and people of Dominica in the aftermath of a storm that devastated that country on Thursday.

The gesture was made during a visit by Prime Minister Roosvelt Skerrit who arrived in St Lucia late Thursday afternoon via helicopter.

He informed on the preliminary estimates of the damage to infrastructure and the loss of life there.

In response Dr Anthony has pledged his commitment to assisting with the recovery efforts after the storm and has urged St Lucians to do the same.

Meanwhile Mr Skerrit says the worse part of the disaster is the loss of life and the grief that his country has been plunged into.

Heavy rains from Tropical storm Emily dumped heavy rains in Dominica, resulting in severe flooding and landslides around the island.

Regional reports suggest that as many as forty people perished in the raging floodwaters that swept through parts of the country.
