St Lucia will from this weekend, play host to 16 Youth Ambassadors from the Republic of China (Taiwan), as part of that country’s International Youth Ambassadors Exchange Programme, which exposes participants to international affairs and give them a better understanding of Taiwan’s work in jurisdictions such as Saint Lucia.  

The 16 college students from music, dancing, performing arts and other fields will be accompanied by one professor from the performing arts, and two assistants.  

The full delegation of 20 will arrive here on Saturday September 5th 2015, at the GFL Charles Airport, and is being led by Mr. Chen Bor-Show - Director General in Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

While in Saint Lucia, the delegation will pay courtesy calls on Governor General Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy and Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny Anthony on September 7th and Minister for Education Hon. Dr. Robert Lewis and several other government ministers on September 8th.  

The delegation will also hold a cultural performance at the National Cultural Centre on Monday 7th September at 7pm, and will put on a performance at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, when the students visit the college on Tuesday 8th September at 11:30 am.

This year, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has selected some 160 college and university students to serve as youth ambassadors, to participate in similar activities in 35 countries with which it has diplomatic relations.
