Questions have been raised about the legality of a dredging fee that has been attached to water bills as the expiry date on the measure ends.

One such individual raising the objection is Mr Darnley Le Bourne who is among others who have questioned the timing of a review which is now underway to determine whether the levy should continue.

The general consensus is that it should be suspended pending official word from the water and Sewerage commission.

Meanwhile the Executive Director of the National water and Sewerage Commission Kelly Joepsh explained that while the dredging fee was supposed to have ended in August 2015, the Commission has taken a decision to extend the levy, pending the outcome of a review.

The Commission is expected to hold continuing engagement with stakeholders
