The sudden and immediate increase in fees for learner permits imposed on driving students could trigger a major protest here soon.

Word of this comes from driving instructor John Noel, who informed that the issuance of permits have been put on hold, after the Ministry of Transports handling of the situation was exposed.

Mr Noel says the situation has serious impacted the driving instructors who are not able to process documents for new learners.

Mr Noel says the Ministry of transport has scheduled an audience with driving instructors on Saturday.

But he adds that members of the Association of Driving schools are expecting the Ministry to make the first move on the way forward, since their businesses have been stalled.

Learner permits have been increased one hundred percent  from $75 to $150
