The unemployment figures for the first two quarters of 2015 have been collated, with the rate for the second quarter of the year lies between 23 and 27percent.

That's according to the Director of Statistics Edwin St Catherine who notes that there has not been a significant reduction in the figures this year from what obtained in 2013 and 2014.

The data was collected from a sample size population and according to him is 95 percent accurate.

Meanwhile, Mr St Catherine says the youth unemployment rate remains high particularly among the age group of 15 and 29. It stands at 47 percent.

He explains that this is because of the high number of people in that demographic.

Mr St Catherine says individuals aged 15 to 29 are among the highest demographic in St Lucia.
