Local police are believed to have opened investigations into two alleged cases of rape which occurred in two separate incidents over the weekend.

They involve individuals who are employed in positions of authority.

Press Relations Officer at the Royal St Lucia Police Force Zachary Hippolyte confirmed to RCI news earlier today that a report has been filed against a veteran police officer, who has been accused of handcuffing and raping a woman at gunpoint on Tuesday last week.

The constable, is believed to have 20 years of experience in the force and is on pre retirement leave. Reports are that the alleged victim had a romantic relationship with the accused.

Meanwhile, the other rape allegation involves a Jamaican security guard who is believed to be in police custody.

Reports are that the accused, who was employed at a popular resort in the north, is suspected of raping a young girl on the Reduit beach on Saturday night.

Up until news time Mr Hippolyte informed that he was awaiting information that would allow him to confirm that report.

Meanwhile RCI news has been informed that Gros Islet police are investigating the matter.
