A dry spell that has gripped the island for several months appears to have been broken temporarily.

That according to Acting Director of Met Services Venantius Descartes, who informed that the recent rains being experienced here are associated with a tropical wave which has been affecting the region.

He adds that while the Atlantic Hurricane season has been quiet for the most part, it is not strange to have such a rain event.

Mr Descartes says the changes in the weather pattern are caused by the El Nino phenomenon.
