A preliminary report has been released on the impact of heavy rains and flooding on St Lucia’s Infrastructure.

It comes from the Administrative Assistant to the Minister for Infrastructure Silas Wilson, who informed that a review on the state of several bridges, and other road networks was conducted late Friday.

It is being reported that no significant damage has been registered following the flooding experienced due to a trough system. Mr Wilson however notes that plans are moving ahead for the reconstruction and renovation of two main bridges.

Mr Wilson believes that the impact of heavy rains here has done little to delay the start of major infrastructure works scheduled to commence here soon.

In fact he says, it has heightened the need for the construction works to begin urgently.

Mr Wilson has also reported that measures taken to improve the infrastructure of the island following the passage of Hurricane Tomas have been performing well.
