Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a road accident which claimed the lives of two individuals on the weekend.

The incident occurred along the Bois D’Orange road about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2013. According to Information from The Press Relations Office, on a white motor car registration number PG 3288 and a motor cycle registration number PD 1892 collided with each other. Both vehicles were travelling in the same direction.At the time of the accident, the motor car was driven by 40 year old Curline George of Corinth, Gros Islet, while the motor cycle was driven by 32 year old Sheffield Joseph of Babonneau and his pinion rider, 19 year old Joella Fanus of Micoud. 

As a result of the accident, both the rider and pinion rider sustained serious injuries and were transported to Victoria Hospital. Sheffield Joseph was pronounced dead on arrival whereas Joella Fanus succumbed to her injuries about 1 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013.

So far, the Traffic Department has recorded 18 fatalities from 15 road accidents.

An investigation into the accident continues.
