The Acting Police Commissioner is expected to issue a strong public statement in light of the spate of rapes against women occurring here.

This comes in light of the frequency at which such reports are being filed with police in various parts of the island.

Lawmen confirmed today that two more reports of rape have been filed here.

Officials are investigating a report that a 16-year-old girl was drugged and sexually assaulted by at least two men on Sunday, November 8th  at around 10 p.m. in Anse Canot, Dennery.

It is being alleged that the teenager was drugged before the assault occurred.

No arrests have been made so far, but suggestions are that the suspects are known individuals.

Meanwhile investigations have also been launched into an alleged rape of a woman at Corinth.

The incident allegedly occurred on Saturday.

The two most recent incidents have occurred shortly after official reports indicate that four such cases have been filed with police.

They include the gang rape of two teenagers at their home in Reduit park by three men during a home invasion, as well as another sexual assault on the Reduit Beach.

A senior police officer is also accused of raping his girlfriend at gun point, about a week ago.

It is not yet clear when Mr Errol Alexander will address the issue
