Staff employed with the Water and sewerage company are receiving the support of their counterparts attached to the national Workers Union in their quest to seek a wage increase.

The solidarity is coming from the National Insurance Corporation and the St Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority SLASPA, whose workers have expressed disgust with the manner in which the request is being handled by the management of WASCO.

In a letter to the Managing Director of WASCO Vincent Hipopolyte, the workers allies state that they are astonished to learn that the two day absence provision as provided for in the labour act 2006 is not being implemented along with length of service premium on annual vacation pay entitlement.

NIC and SLASPA workers have appealed for commonsense in this industrial matter in an effort to have them resolved before the busy Christmas period.
