Despite financial hard times facing St. Lucians, the Salvation Army is reporting that donations to the charitable organization are on a steady increase.

The observation comes from Captain Dwayne Broom who stressed that donations made to the Salvation Army this year have surpassed those made around the same time last year.

He believes that it is due to the increased level of empathy displayed to the plight of the needy.

Captain Broom says it is further highlighted in the willingness of those who are in need to help the destitute.

Several activities have been planned by the Salvation Army for the less fortunate during the festive season. They include a number of distribution drives at various locations as well as treats for the children throughout this week.
