Medical officials at Victoria Hospital are strongly urging against the use of marijuana mixed with tobacco due to the devastating consequences particularly on young adults.

The caution comes from Consultant at the Accident and Emergency Department at Victoria Hospital Dr Lissa Charles who has observed what she says is a steady increase in the number of cases seen at the health institution over that past decade.

Dr Charles says on a daily basis upwards of 12 patients affected by COPD are treated for breathing difficulties at Victoria Hospital.

The numbers she says are staggering for end stage patients.

Dr Charles says there are patients who are living at VH because they are unable to take care of themselves at home due to the severity of their COPD.
