The St Lucia Civil Service Association is embroiled in another industrial relations row, this time over claims of the eligibility of one of its employees to participate in a pre poll exercise ahead of a determination on the appointment of a bargaining agent for CSA workers.

The exercise which begun at the office of the Labour Department earlier today has to be postponed after concerns were raised about Mr John Leonie position on the CSA’s General council.

Mr Leonie is employed as the watchman at the CSA.

Speaking on the issue General Secretary of the Seamens Waterfront and General Workers Trade Union Janice Eugene says the Union, which is seeking recognition as the representative for the CSA wants to make sure that the process is above board.

Ms Eugene has also questioned the exclusion of certain CSA employees from the protection of the bargaining unit.

She claims that the members were among those being represented by the National Workers Union prior to the Seamen’s Union.

The pre poll meeting has been adjourned until a later date
