The St. Lucian Government is pushing for St. Lucians to become more technology savvy.

The republic of China Taiwan donated over 3000 laptops to form three students for the one laptop per child programme. During the handing over ceremony on Wednesday Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony and Minister of education Mr. Robert Lewis said that parents and teachers need to become familiar with current technology.

Mr. Lewis says that one of the two objectives of the laptop programme was to help parents and teachers familiarize themselves with modern day technology.

Dr. Anthony acknowledged that teachers need to be trained to infuse ICT in the classroom because it is easier for students to adapt to technology.

The government, through the Ministry of education is aiming to train 500 teachers on how to incorporate technology in their courses.
