Vendors operating at upper Clarke Street in Vieux Fort are up in arms over what they say is their forced eviction from the area where they ply their trade.

According to one vendor Police were called in on Tuesday to remove the traders from the street area where they have occupied for some time now.

She claims that they are being forced to sell at the Clarke Street location because they do not have a proper market facility from which to operate--A situation which she blames on Prime Minister and MP for Vieux Fort South Dr Kenny Anthony.

Meanwhile the President of the vendors Association Peter Ras Ipa Isaac has informed that his association met with world Bank officials for a consultation geared at upgrading vending space at the Castries waterfront for merchants.

He says there was consensus on the need for a more attractive area that will entice and promote visitor spending

The two day session took place here on February 1st and 2nd at the Financial centre.
