As St Lucian women commemorate and celebrate the observance of International Women’s Day, the leader of the Political Opposition has urged for special focus on those who have blazed the trail as well as those who continue to be disadvantaged in one way or another.

Dr Gale Rogobert says while many struides have and continue to be made, a creating advancement for local women a number of challenges continue to persist.

Dr Rigobert pointed to the pains of some women who have been stripped of their dignity from irreparable damage caused by the scourge of domestic abuse violence and sexual assault.She has called for strong efforts to restore these women to wholeness.

The opposition leader has also applauded the strength of the women who suffer in silence and has called for support for those who are afraid to speak out for fear of insensitivity from those in authority.
