The Youth of Babonneau have launched an initiative to save St.Lucia’s natural resources.

Babonneau Youth Synergy launched an Adopt-A-River programme on Wednesday at the Babonneau constituency council office. The initiative will take the form of a tree planting exercise along river banks throughout the community in an effort to combat erosion and other man-made as well as environmental hazards.

The group plans to grow crop trees in order to create products and hopefully jobs.

The chairman of the Babonneau constituency council Virginia Albert  Poyotte says this project will help the environment to flourish.

Upon receiving funding for the project, President of the Babonneau Youth Synergy group Michael Joseph says the funds would be best used to support the environmental initiative.

The youth organization has embarked on various other campaigns throughout their community.
